Project Enthral

Due to support of Norway grants (with contribution of 85% of project budget) and Polish government (with contribution of 15% of project budget) we were able to combine efforts of four talented groups of consortium members.

CONSORTIUM MEMBERS

SUT

Established in 1945, with the core staff the, established in 1844, Lviv University of Technology. Campuses in Gliwice, Katowice,and Zabrze. Currently SUT is within the top ten universities in Poland (out of over 400 institutions of higher education), the winners of the Excellence Initiative-Research University competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Education. Research and teaching cover all engineering disciplines, mathematics, management, pedagogy, and other subjects. Courses are taught at the Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. levels. The enrolment is 19 thousand. SUT employs over 3 thousand individuals. The total number of promoted engineers reaches 200 thousand. One in twelve chairmen in Poland graduated from SUT. Ryszard Białecki

Specialist in inverse techniques and CFD. Published works on blood flow in arteries, multiphase flow, reduced order methods. His responsibility will be the general management of the project and cooperation in CFD blood modeling and inverse analysis. Is the coordinator of ENTHRAL’s WP4. 

Wojciech Adamczyk

Is an expert in the field of multiphase flows, inverse analyses, combustion processess modeling and numerical methods in heat transfer and fluid dynamics. Due to his proven track record with experimental work he is in charge of ENTHRAL's WP1.

Ziemowit Ostrowski

Is experienced in (coupled) numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer phenomena in industry as well as present in bio-medical environment. His field of research also revolves around uses and applications of Proper Orthogonal Decomposition or Artifical Intelligence. His knowledge will be utilised in coordination of ENTHRAL's WP2. 

Ewa Piętka

Specializes in digital image processing and analysis as well as digital medical systems. Her expertise will be utilised to process results from USG measurements carried out at GMH No.4.

Jan Juszczyk

His responsiblity in the project will be setting up the gated USG installation for both phantom and medical experiment as well as image recognition.

Wojciech Wolański

Is responsible for measurements of Young modulus and Poisson ratio of the material used in the phantom.

Kamil Joszko

Specialists in determining mechanical material properties of biomaterials. Will be using Digital Image Correlation device to be used for the purpose of validation of the USG measurements

Bożena Gzik-Zroska

Will be using Digital Image Correlation device to​ be used for the purpose of validation of the USG measurements

Bartłomiej Melka

Is experienced in numerical modeling of heat transfer and fluid flow problems, coupled heating-electrical issues in electircal engines as well as fluid flow (and fluid-structure interactions, FSI) within blood vessels and other biomedical areas. He is the Post-Doc hired to coordinate experimental measurements.

Aleksander Sinek

PhD student tasked with developing a numerical model that will capture the complexity of the fluid-structure interactions within the left common carotid artery, that will be computationally cost-efficient.

Mateusz Mesek

PhD student tasked with developing and testing a method that enables a non-invasive ex-vivo measurement of stiffness of the left common carotid artery.

Marek Rojczyk

His responsibility is the management and coordination of the experimental's rig infrastructure, he is one of the core people in ENTHRAL's WP1. His responsibilities also include the conservation, repairs and automation of the laboratory set-up.

Michał Chabiński

Is responsible for IT support.

Tomasz Wardzała

Responsible for technical support and experiments in ENTHRAL's WP1.

Katarzyna Schneider

Is the Administrative Project Manager.

CONSORTIUM MEMBERS

NTNU

Established in 1996 by the merger of six research and higher education institutions. The university roots go back to 1760. The university main campus is located in Trondheim, and two other campuses are in Ålesund and Gjøvik. NTNU is ranked within the top one percent in engineering. The university research and teaching spectrum covers not only engineering and science, but also humanities, architecture, medicine, social and educational sciences, as well as economics. B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD programs are offered. are offered. The enrollment in NTNU is 42 thousand. The university employs 9 thousand people. Leif Rune Hellevik

Specialist in modeling of blood flow and uncertainty quantification. Published works on simulation of blood flow and pressure wave propagation in artery system and sensitivity, validation and uncertainty quantification. His role is the coordination of ENTHRAL's WP 6.

Jacob Sturdy

Jacob has extensive experience with Uncertainty Quantification and Sensitivity Analysis, especially in the field of biomechanics. He is the leader of ENTHRAL's WP3.

Friederike Schäfer

PhD Student tasked with development of sensitivity analysis and uncertainty quantification procedures for fluid-structure models of the arteries

Gliwice Municipal Hospital No 4

Established in 2015 as a merger of two Gliwice hospitals: General Gliwice Hospital and Military Hospital. The institution contains several wards: surgery, vascular surgery, children surgery, internal diseases, nephrology, traumatic orthopedic, cardiology, pediatric, anesthetic, urology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation and intensive care. Adam Golda

Is a cardiologist working at Gliwice Municipal Hospital No. 4. His research domains in clinical cardiology constitute echocardiography, invasive treatment of coronary diseases as well as preventive cardiology. H e is the coordinator of the 5 th Work Package.

Michał Nowok

Cardiology resident since 2019. A long-time participant of student research clubs, co-author of scientific works on various branches of medicine. Interested in ultrasound and Doppler diagnostics.
