Inverse analysis applied to the results of the physical experiment

The input to this work package will be the validated direct model (WP2 and WP3) and the measurements obtained in WP1. At first the simulated measurements will be used. This way:

  • The 3D direct solver will be used to generate pseudo measurements using known stiffness of the conduit.
  • The obtained results will be then modified by adding stochastic noise.
  • Two series of simulations will be carried out: first where the 1D direct solver will be used and the second where the 3D solver will be applied.

Another question that will be addressed in this WP is the possibility of retrieving the anisotropy of the Young modulus.

Stepping forward

At the current state of the knowledge, this anisotropic behaviour can be solely determined empirically, by running several tests already at the stage of simulated data. If insurmountable difficulties in convergence are encountered, the walls will be treated as an isotropic, linear elastic material.

This WP will result in selection of the proper inverse solver retrieving the stiffness of the artificial vessel based on:

  • comparing the inverse solvers for 1D and 3D
  • best inverse algorithm
  • optimal location of distention measurements
  • possibility of retrieving anisotropic properties

Delivery:

Best inverse solver tested on both synthetic and real data.
