In vivo medical experiment with healthy volunteers

In this section, the distension of the carotid artery will be measured using USG gated (synchronized with the heart cycle) apparatus. The results will be processed to filter out numerical noise.

More data usage and verification

The experiment will be carried out on a set of healthy volunteers, using the same apparatus that was used in WP1. Parallel to this, the results concerning the blood velocity field will be measured using the Doppler mode of the USG scanner at the inflow and outflow of the investigated portion of the artery.

Additional input data concerning blood pressure will come from applanation tonometry. The outcome of this WP will be a tested method of measuring distension of the artery, blood velocity and pressure and a system of data acquisition and processing.

Measuring of meaningful indicators

WP5 will result in measuring of distension of the carotid artery using:

  • USG gated apparatus
  • experiments on volunteers
  • Doppler measurement of velocity
  • Pressure applanation tonometry

Delivery:

Tested method of measuring distension of the artery, blood velocity and pressure and a system of data acquisition and processing.
