Experimental rig (phantom), physical experiment

This work package (WP1) will be led by SUT. The rig will consist of an elastic tube of known stiffness and dimensions similar to that of the carotid artery. 

Blood Mimicking Fluid (BMF) will be pumped through the tube mimicking the heart cycle. Velocity and pressure will be measured as well as the deformation of a vessel. Material properties of the tube will be obtained by mechanical testing.

Emulating body conditions

Goal is to reproduce in vivo conditions and provide experimental data for:

  • checking reliability of direct models (1D, 3D)
  • selection of proper inverse solver
  • accuracy of USG by comparison with high resolution optical camera and 3D Image Correlation System (SUT, Faculty of Biomedical Engineerig team)
  • Additional experimental data
  • bi-axial streching, separate experiment (SUT, Faculty of Biomedical Engineerig team)

Delivery:

Working installation controlled by computer.
